Which UK Cities Provide The Best Elderly Care?

Matthew

The UK has an ageing population, which means that there is a growing need for the provision of high-quality elderly care – a need that will only become more acute as time goes on.

But it seems that there may be some regional disparities between the kind of care that older people can expect to receive, with new research reviewing key metrics like care home quality, park access, restaurant quality, hospital proximity, outdoor commutes and social interactions to identify the cities currently providing the best elderly care.

Conducted by Lottie, the study revealed that Durham offered the best care for elderly people of all cities, with a score of 8.8 out of ten, in large part down to its excellent care home reviews and high scores for restaurant quality and hospital proximity.

Swindon followed close on its heels in second place, off the back of its park access, hospital proximity and care home reviews. And Doncaster came in third, with a score of 9.8 out of ten thanks to its park access and hospital proximity.

At the other end of the scale, Bradford emerged as the place with the worst elderly care, with an overall score of 1.62 out of ten. It received this rating based on its care home reviews and poor hospitality proximity scores. The study concluded: “With our population living longer than ever, elderly care has never been more important. Thankfully, there is more expert advice and guidance available than ever before when arranging care for yourself or a loved one.”
